The department has a mission to provide a vibrant interdisciplinary research program in engineering science, creating novel and sustainable solutions to serve public interests in areas such as health, energy, and environment. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tanveer Iqbal, the department has established a dedicated research laboratory with state-of-the-art facilities including, but not limited to, nano-indenter, HPLC, GC, tribometer, CHNS analyzer, and bomb calorimeter. The most recent addition is the computer control Universal Testing Machine (UTM). The UTM was procured as a part of NRPU research project led by Dr. Hamayoun Mahmood. The machine is able to perform material characterizations such as tensile, compression, flexural, and bending test. Besides its use for research projects, the machine will be available for commercial testing.
